Top Gun Events is dedicated to the education of young athletes and parents. One way we are showing this is through weekly blogs devoted to shining light on topics that affect you directly. For the month of February, we are introducing a different Division I Conference each week. Our goal is to expose young athletes and their families to opportunities they may be unaware of. Each conference will be introduced by a head coach within it highlighting the perks of the conference that everyone should know!

Blog #1 - The Best of the ASUN
The Atlantic Sun Conference has a lot to offer any student athlete interested in playing at the highest level. In the last few years the ASUN has been ranked as high as #7 as a conference in RPI and power rankings. When you look at the list and see the Power 5 conferences taking the top 5 spots, it is pretty impressive that a non-football conference is getting those kind of numbers. The Atlantic Sun is putting out so many strong teams that the NCAA gave the conference two at-large bids to NCAA Regionals just a couple of years ago. With the strong schedules and competition, you get the best of both worlds. You are able to go to school with a smaller student to teacher ratio, but still get to play on the biggest stages the NCAA has to offer.
The Atlantic Sun is located throughout the southeast. This is a huge pull for athletes wanting to play softball because location and weather wise it is pretty ideal. With 4 schools in Florida and the highest school geographically being in Nashville ,TN – we aren’t really effected by the weather as much as some of the conferences to the north of us. Most schools, if not all, are able to host tournaments in the pre-season due to having good weather. This is great because you get the advantage of your home crowd and being on your own turf every weekend, which brings in more fans and local interest.
The ASUN takes pride in being a competitive conference top to bottom. As a whole, the coaches in the ASUN are going after the same athletes the Power 5 are going after. That is how we are
